Big changes are coming to one of downtown Indy’s favorite dining spots.
On August 5th, Gather 22 will launch a brand-new summer menu—a vibrant, flavor-packed lineup that marks the official debut of Executive Chef Wyatt. The new dishes are inspired by a recent trip to Oaxaca, Mexico, layered with smoky, spicy, and bright notes that reflect both the destination and the season.
The restaurant, long loved for its brunch scene and design-forward vibe, is leaning deeper into dinner with this new menu—bold, chef-driven, and designed to be shared.
A Menu Rooted in Heat, Heritage, and High Flavor
Chef Wyatt’s debut lineup bridges Oaxacan influences and Indiana ingredients, with a focus on technique, texture, and a little bit of surprise. "We wanted dishes that feel fresh and craveable—but still familiar," Wyatt says. "Plates you can linger over, with a little edge."
The chili crunch zucchini—grilled, smoky, and topped with housemade heat—sets the tone. From there, the menu expands into layered offerings like:
Miso Egg + Soba – a cold noodle sleeper hit with umami punch
Hot Honey Olives – sweet, savory, and deeply snackable
Tylyuda – a crispy Oaxacan-style flatbread with black bean, escabeche, cotija crema, and mushrooms
Hamachi Collar – glazed with rosemary balsamic and paired with cacio e pepe creamed greens
Flat Iron Steak – chimichurri meets ancho-orange glazed carrots in a bold twist on a steakhouse classic
Half Chicken – glazed with ginger butter, finished with hot honey & a crisp celery salad
Even the accoutrements read like a conversation between cultures: mole, bok choy kimchi, curried tomato confit, and corn-peach succotash round out the edges.
From Oaxaca to Indianapolis: A Creative Reset
The menu is the result of a months-long evolution following Gather’s owners’ trip to Oaxaca earlier this year. The experience sparked a desire to bring more warmth, depth, and global influence to the space—without losing what makes Gather feel like home.
Chef Wyatt joined the team shortly after, bringing with him a clear culinary point of view, deep respect for seasonal sourcing, and a talent for balancing the elevated and the approachable.
What This Means for Indy Diners
The new menu is built for date nights, food crawls, and destination dinners—and designed to expand what diners expect from Gather’s dinner service.
If you’ve been searching for the best new chef in Indianapolis, or are hungry for restaurants that take bold risks without losing warmth, this menu—and this team—deserve a spot on your radar.
